Floating panel and Side Panel
Choose where Pickode opens: a floating panel over the page, the browser's Side Panel or Auto mode. Open it with Alt+S. Not available in Firefox.
Updated October 20, 2026
Pickode can work in a floating panel over the page or in the browser’s Side Panel, next to the page. Pick the one that fits the task: the floating panel keeps everything on the page, the Side Panel keeps the page fully visible while you read long analyses.
The three modes
| Mode | What it does | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Floating panel | Pickode opens over the page you’re working on | Inspecting, quick edits, exports; works in every supported browser |
| Side Panel | Pickode opens in the browser’s Side Panel, beside the page | Reading analyses and lists without covering the page |
| Auto | Uses the floating panel, and opens analyses and lists in the Side Panel | Getting the best of both without switching by hand |
Both panels follow the same interface: dark, light or system theme, English or Italian.
How to use the Side Panel
-
Open any website in a browser that supports the Side Panel (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera, Arc, Comet).
-
Press Alt+S to open Pickode in the Side Panel.
-
Choose the mode you prefer (floating panel, Side Panel or Auto) so Pickode opens where you want next time.
-
Press Esc to close one level at a time.
Auto mode in practice
With Auto, the inspector and the quick tools stay in the floating panel, right where you point. When you open an analysis or a long list, such as the panels for performance, accessibility or WordPress, it goes to the Side Panel, so you can scroll through results while the page stays in view.
Firefox
Firefox doesn’t offer the Side Panel API that Pickode uses (the sidePanel permission isn’t available there). In Firefox everything works in the floating panel, including analyses and lists. The same goes for any browser that doesn’t support the Side Panel.
