Streaming video
Save unprotected HLS (m3u8) and DASH streams you're authorized to keep as one MP4 file, with quality and audio choice. DRM, live and YouTube are refused.
Updated October 20, 2026
Many sites don’t serve a video as one file but as a stream of hundreds of small segments. Pickode picks up HLS and DASH streams from the page’s network requests and joins the segments into one MP4 file, right in your browser. Use it for your own webinars, a client’s product video or any stream you’re licensed to archive.
How to save a stream
-
Open the page with the video. Pickode detects HLS (
.m3u8) and DASH streams from the network and lists them in the asset panel (Alt+A). -
Choose the video quality and, when the stream has separate tracks, the audio you want.
-
Save. Pickode downloads 5 segments in parallel and joins them into a single MP4.
What’s supported
| Area | Support |
|---|---|
| Protocols | HLS (m3u8) and DASH |
| Segments | TS and fMP4, byte ranges, discontinuities |
| DASH manifests | SegmentTemplate/Timeline, SegmentList, SegmentBase |
| Audio | Separate audio tracks, with track choice |
| Download | 5 segments in parallel |
| Output | One MP4 file |
WebM streams
WebM streams can’t be joined into a single MP4. In that case Pickode saves two files, video and audio, together with the ffmpeg command to merge them on your computer.
What’s refused
Pickode refuses these streams by design instead of trying to work around them:
- DRM-protected video;
- encrypted streams;
- live streams;
- YouTube.
